About TEA

  • The Excelsior Academy (TEA) is registered with the Maryland State Department of Education as a nonpublic entity to supervise Maryland home instruction programs. In this capacity, TEA is charged with verifying the legal compliance of each of its students and reporting enrollments and withdrawals to the county boards of education.
  • In addition, TEA also provides advising and counseling to its students and parent educators, professional development opportunities, social events, and a full range of added services to its students and families.
  • TEA employs the services of over twenty professional reviewers to assist Wendy Bush in the required annual reviews and consultations. They all are experienced home educators (some of whom are “retired”) and bring their own areas of expertise, such as experience in gifted education, early elementary education, special needs, etc.
